Name for Binding Problem Solution
We can be consciously aware of a lot of things, including subjective qualities like redness and greenness. The fact that conscious experience is
composed of lots of things like this, at the same time, begs the question, what mechanism makes this composite conscious experience possible. Philosophers refer to this as the “Binding Problem.” This further begs the question of what is a good name for such a mechanism. The
purpose of this topic is to build consensus around the best name for whatever mechanism is discovered, which achieves the binding. There are also other implications around computational binding related to what we are, our relationship to physical reality, and what humanity will likely become once we start doing consciousness engineering and remaking our brains.
