Bionic implants are engineered parts that replace, or improve upon, biological parts. The best known example of this is the cochlear implant (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cochlear_implant). There is no theoretical limit to how much of a biological organism, including neural tissue, can be thus replaced.
