The LDS church should change this exclusionary policy

One of the competing camps to this one is titled "People can't change God's Law". Many of us in this camp agree with this, and point out this isn't the purpose of this survey topic - as described in the Agreement statement. People should think of this open survey topic as imagining if God was asking you what you believed or wanted? If God asked you and wanted to know what you, personally believed and wanted, how would you answer? That is the purpose of this topic.

We accept, sustain, and support the authority of the profit to dictate such policies for the LDS church. However, if anyone is asking us what we think might be better, we think this policy is hateful and detrimental to not just Mormons, but all of society. We are saddened that parents, grandparents and other loved ones and friends may be excluded from LDS marriage ceremonies by Church policy. We love all of our families and some of us feel very uncomfortable and lonely having weddings in such a hateful and lonely place without them.

We understand that it is not a doctrinal issue that has couples being married inside the LDS temple, where non-Church members are prevented from attending. The fact that in many other countries couples are required by the law to be married civilly first and then have their union sealed in the temple, indicates that doctrinally it can be practiced this way. We understand that currently, couples who choose to have a civil ceremony in order to have their loved ones present are penalized by the church by having to wait a full year to be able to have their marriage union sealed in the temple. If this is not a doctrinal issue, the one year wait appears to be a punishment for exercising their agency to choose to keep peace within their family.
