The biography of the man from Stratford-Upon-Avon who is generally given credit for writing the plays is wholly incompatible with the person who was Shakespeare, and no evidence during the Stratford man's lifetime suggests that he was a writer of any kind. It is therefore likely that someone else, or perhaps several other people, wrote the works attributed to William Shakespeare.
