DNA Evidence Against the Book of Mormon

DNA research has concluded that Native Americans do not originate from the Middle East or from Israel, as the Book of Mormon states, but rather from Asia. That is why The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints changed the introduction of the Book of Mormon.

Prior to 2006, the introduction referred to "the Lamanites" as "the principal ancestors of the American Indians." In every edition of the book since then, the introduction states that "the Lamanites" are merely "among the ancestors of the American Indians.”

DNA evidence makes it clear that even that statement is untenable, and that the Book of Mormon does not represents a historical record of actual people and is, instead, a work of fiction.
