Orch OR supporters, I wanted to send the below letter, to thank Stuart Hamerof, regarding the recent revolution, of sourts, that placed our camp in the top 'latter' of expert consensus. Let me know what you think, or if you're willing to add your name to the letter before I send it. Brent Allsop ==================== Hello Stuart Hameroff, I just wanted to let you know of some significant recent news regarding the consensus level of the "Penrose-Hameroff Orchestrated Objective Reduction(Orch OR) theory" (see: http://canonizer.com/topic.asp/88/20 ) at Canonizer.com for which you authored the current camp statement. There has recently been a theoretical 'revolution' of sorts, where many of the supporters of David Chalmers "Functional Property Dualism" camp (see: http://canonizer.com/topic.asp/88/8 ) realized they are not "Property Dualists". They, thereby, abandoned this camp, and joined with several others that think like Dennett (as in anti "classic qualia"), to create the new quickly emerging Representational Functionalism camp (see: http://canonizer.com/topic.asp/88/18) to compete with the significant consensus "Property Dualism" camp. Also, we recently had some new supporters of "Orch OR" effectively 'sign' your online camp statement by explicitly supporting it. As you can see, there is a clear emerging 'ladder' of top consensus camps forming on the best theories of consciousness. This consensus starts with "Approachable Via Science" (37/40), then "Representational Qualia Theory" (30/40), then "Property Dualism" (20/40) and "Mind-Brain Identity Theory"(15/40). After this level, Chalmers "Functional Property Dualism" camp was until now leading our competing "Material Property Dualism" camp, putting them in this top 'ladder' of consensus theories. However these two theoretical 'revolutions' have enabled "Material Property Dualism" (see: http://canonizer.com/topic.asp/88/7 ) to surpass this camp in how much consensus it has at that level, enabling it to take this spot in the top consensus ladder. And since "Orch Or" is the top supported sub camp of "Material Property Dualism", it also ended up on this top consensus ladder level, as you can now see. So I just wanted to say thanks for your work and your support, that helped lead to this, and it will be very exciting to see where it goes from here, as ever more scientific data, and better arguments, continue to get canonized, and as this open survey continues to be ever more comprehensive. There is an obvious advantage to early emerging camps in this race. It takes some convincing scientific data / powerful arguments, to lead to these kinds of theoretical revolutions against well established expert consensus theories. Any additional support would surely cement our camps in this top position, and extend our current lead, as ever more people continue to participate in this open survey, and as we continue to approach THE ONE camp that will not be falsified by the scientific data, forcing all experts to ultimately accept it as THE scientific consensus camp. Upwards, Brent Allsop and the other supporters of Orch OR theory.
